GRIEF and GIFTS

Little Brother
*
If a poet, I'd skillfully rhyme
all our being-together time.
Seventy years, birth to demise.
Sorrow blocks me, clouds my eyes.

Mostly home processing this loss.
Going through photographs of my Brother, William James (Jamie) with plans to have some of them rephotographed to send along to Rosa and Dennis Slater

Gift
Dee Mallon sent a handmade pine pillow I love and her pennant for  Mo Crows "Love is the Answer"
Wonderful details

Concert

My old friend (Archangel) Michael treated me to the West Village Chorale Holiday concert at Judson church
Plus supper after at our favorite West Village Delicatessen. We walked through Washington Square headed for the bus home.

DOWN TO THE RIVER

TO PRAY
9.11.2018

'Freedom Tower'
 At Judson Church
Seeking refuge
Ritual
Candles, song, atonement, intentions.

We walked to the Hudson River across Christopher street...

...circled again and sang more songs
stated intentions for the new year
each one with a sign...
...naming what would be left behind, passing them around the circle, then tearing them to pieces that would be composted.
the Shofar sounded...
...and was answered

Rabbi Amachai
Blessing
We cast bread into the river where a flock of seagulls accepted our offering. Then blue streams representing the lost twin towers lit.

A SPLASH OF CHEER

SUNDAY
A Fifth Avenue Sundown
 and
"All That Glitters"

A Chrismas Concert
West Village Chorale
at
Judson Memorial Church
With angels on high and carol of the bells, a silent night and virgin birth, Irving Berlim and beautiful brasswinds.  With joy and exhultation to spare, a lively weaving of Sacred and Secular song, and Oh, the divine harpist!

Did you know that a "Quodlibet" is a piece of music combining many different melodies, usually popular tunes, in counterpoint, and often in a humorous manner?  The term is Latin, meaning 'whatever', or literally, 'what pleases'.  They did one!

We enjoyed it.

'Herself'
