PRESENCE

Moon Model
Window at Opera Thrift Shop reflecting reconstruction of the building across East 23rd Street

Monday Evening Writing Group
Prompt 1. Senses
Prompt 2. Favorite Candy
(TBT)

Notorious Access-A-Ride pulling away and writing buddy almost missed it because they only have to wait five minutes often stranding folks in wheelchairs or with other challenges

Tuesday
Lovely Lucy observes
While my old Union friend, Margarita kindly does my taxes for me. New York State demands filing on line and Turbo Tax charges $29.99 to file it!
We walked patient Lucy
Then I waited for the cross town bus
in front of this great old dive

Wednesday
I placed an ailing friends name on the
"being watched over" altar at the Zendo
(found out Thursday her test results are 'clear')

THEN
A trip to the Department of Motor Vehicles
Because I let my non-driver I.D. expire while I was busy with more pressing issues of life in the body, I have to get a new one and that means 'start again' showing proofs of residence, and other I.D.s of their specific designation. Gathered all last night.
While waiting for the cross town bus I shot two reflections in Housing Works windows:

Note to self:
You only have so much energy to be actively congenial among many others for long periods of time. It's okay to fall short of output, to disengage while remaining present, to fall into silence.

STORMY MONDAY - SUNDOWN - SUMMER SOLSTICE

DAILY
Reminders of Zen practice ("You can tell the depth of a persons awake-ness by how they serve others), of Tibet (landscape and 'Sublime Worlds'), of my local Library, of Michael Beiser and Boston ("Keep calm and start a Revolution"), of My friend Nayra (3 wolves), and dear Cynthia from 'Taking Root' in Vermont (banana tree)

MONDAY
As I turned the lock on my apartment door
-KRAaaaaaK and KABOOoooooM-
the rains came as predicted. I was thoroughly soaked before I even got to the bus stop. Downtown for my weekly writing group, the Moving Pen, the sky threatened for hours, and, coming home my writing buddy of many years, Nancy Beck, is smiling out at me from the First Avenue bus at 23rd Street. See the weird gold and pink glow on the buildings behind and the bus itself.

Is your footsteps, and nothing more;
Traveler, there is no road,
We make the road by walking."

Wisdom
by Sarah Teasdale
"When I have ceased to break my wings
Against the faultiness of things,
And learned that compromises wait
Behnd each hardly opened gate.
When I can look life in the eyes,
Grown calm and very coldly wise,
Life will have given me the truth
And taken in exchange my youth."
