"Meditation has brought me beyond - to the safety of 'Not knowing'. In spiritual work, we launch into the infinite, so where's the end of it? We never reach a 'goal'. It just goes on becoming ever more wonderful. All questions dissolve in the glory of Love."

Con Edison informed me by message to my land line that the Heat wave might cause an interruption in service and that I should make plans to retreat to a safe place.

ONWARD

SUNDAY
JULY 5TH 2020
1 a.m.
Waited for the fireworks after the fireworks to die down
to have a lovely peaceful walk around Gramercy Park accompanied by a delightful breeze

So hot I'm shut in with fans and music all day.
Earlier
When I went out for a few necessities, a very angry man had an issue with my policewoman friend. Apparently he shows up almost daily and wants to go to the Precinct to demand a escort to his homeless shelter on 17th street, where, he states, everybody hates me. She refused him and he was super horrible with name calling insults. She and I stepped aside while her partner let him talk. She said "I'm so tired" and there were tears. Sexism is alive and well in the street and even at the precinct. She has a son and intends to raise him to respect others.
Close
I didn't dare shoot his face. He wore a threatening mask and had threatening symbols hanging from his neck.
I crossed the avenue and continued downtown.

Monday
July 6th
I was having an afternoon nap when
KABOOM
I shot out of bed. The storm outside my window was full of lightning and more thunder. I closed it.
Then hard rain for an hour or more, after which I went outside walking for a while.
After the storm

IN the HEAT

Wednesday
June 10th 2020
Noon

 8:30 p.m.
Manhattan is still muggy and hot, but there's wind. I had a walk about completely forgetting my on line Zendo meet! My proximity to the Precinct keeps me up sometimes. They are out there all night and talking loud. Well, no excuse for missing what I truly care about. So, here's what I saw.

June 11th
Muggy day and dark
I spent it mostly passed out in front of the fan.
Change Came after Zoom Meeting with my Zendo and
a guided meditation led me through a forest to a meadow.

June 12th
7 a.m.
Humidity has lifted
thank goodness
Lovely afternoon
I returned home at 6 to find workers setting up a huge scaffolding across the street at he 13th Precinct, accompanied by drilling and clanging.
(what fresh hell is this?)

Got set up anyway for the 'Wisdom Sangha' Zoom session with my Zendo, closed window and set fan to muffle the noise, checked in and it was all working fine. Sensei Chodo was reading Stanley Kunitz "The Layers" when SUDDENLY AT&T CUT ME OFF texting 'you have used all your high speed data' - DRAT, Foiled again. My cell phone mentor 'Alex' is not available and it is he who must add data. I left him a telephone message. Well, I'll just meditate on my own.
7 p.m.
9:30 p.m.
The workers are still clanging, banging and slamming over at the 13th Precinct. It's got a tin roof reinforced with 2X4s and runs the whole length of the Precinct (my front 'yard), Huge green painted plywood panels are next.
What's this about and who ordered it?
Who thinks so little of ordinary citizen neighbors to be working late like this?
Not just me, but many others on the front and next door to them: elders, and kids. Looks like at least another hours work.
10:30 UPDATE
still at it...add another hour or more
