SUNDAY
MOUSE at 6 a.m. scooting from center room radiator toward the hall behind the bookcase. Drat. I'm quite convinced it's the same mouse the super plugged holes about back in May and I saw once or twice in June. I still think it may be a gerbil escaped when someone moved away. Time will tell. Meanwhile I fussed till 10 a.m. despite I'd been up all night obsessed with RBG and the vultures circling. Insomniak and worried for the worlds woe, wondering where would I go if I needed to go.
Missed a call offering tech support while sound asleep at 3:30 (((sigh))). Hours to come round.
Sunset glow to the East
Took my Temperature and checked Oxegyn levels and pulse. No sighn of illness but huge fatique. I couldn't focus at all and finally called my tech friend at 9:30 but too late. So I walked around the nearby blocks to clear my brain and get the stiffness out of my bones. Adopted pot (flash), new statue at the church plaza placed too low to be appreciated and always one or more homeless tucked into doorways (((sigh))).
Nothing lost-Nothing gained. Peace in the valley of my heart. Tomorrow is another day-probably.

Working my way through this paper pile, discarding L.L. Bean catalogs from 2016, but I don't think I can let the last print issue of the Village Voice go yet.

Then there's a pile of poetry and a box to house the ones I decide are good enough to keep.

"The novel by Philip Roth was published in 2004. It is an alternative history in which Franklin D. Roosevelt is defeated in the presidential election of 1940 by Charles Lindbergh. The novel follows the fortunes of the Roth family during the Lindbergh presidency, as antisemitism becomes more accepted in American life and Jewish-American families like the Roths are persecuted on various levels. The narrator and central character in the novel is the young Philip, and the care with which his confusion and terror are rendered makes the novel as much about the mysteries of growing up as about American politics."

Night Incident
11 p.m.
Fifteen cops were clustered around a man with his very sweet big dog. I listened for a while because he was protesting loudly, though I couldn't catch the details...

Finally, they arrested him, took him into the precinct while a few of them held on to the dog. They regularly keep treats for neighbor dogs inside the garage and so they brought the dog there and gave him some treats, petting him liberally.

The dog seemed calm and happy, but I wondered about the outcome for his owner and worried about the dog. I peeked out a few more times for the following hour until I had to give up for sleep. Back-tracking to a Morning Incident that woke me too early. They are deconstructing the interior first floor to the building next door (also owned by out landlord) they've been working on it for at least two years now and so it goes....

THURSDAY
Cold Rain Morning

Visitor
Because of major construction, yesterday my neighbor had mice and the exterminator put down poisons. Today, I had a mouse in my garbage which I leave up on the stove overnight till I take it down to the cans. Yikes, I can't have mice in this no-cat confined space. I swiftly tied the bag up and went down three flights to deposit in the cans, then informed the super who delivered a poison trap to me. I stored it, preferring the quick-kill kind. It's kinder, so I set my own trap and am focused on reconciling my compassionate self to current reality.

Afternoon Clearing

Suddenly It's windy and bright.
I have the feeling that anything can happen...
and does. I walked around the neighborhood in an attempt to loosen my right sided stiffness. Stopped to rest at the church
until the sun went down

THE MISSING PHOTOGRAPHS
At the 14th Street Y with Amina and Mary Megalli
Saturday
Before the show
About twenty minutes in the Fire alarm went off and we were evacuated in a very orderly fashion to the street.
Ladder Company #3 Responded, went in and checked the building out.
All clear in about fifteen minutes and we resumed.
" Egypt Dances"
1977
Narrated in person by Dr. Magda Saleh, Prema Ballarina of Egypt and the filmmaker.
Here she is on the right posing with her old friend Mary.
Wonderful crafts for kids occupies the same floor so we had a look
Wonderful projects on display,
Delightful
Sun down. I walked home.
That's when I discovered I was without my camera!
I retraced steps, called the Y which was closed so left a message. I gave up on it, however a call came early this morning and the Y was holding the camera for me. A patron had found it and turned it in to the desk.
Grateful for good people.

THE FOURTH FRIENDS
July Fourth
2017
The sky looking East

Peter Cooper Village
New York City
Wendy Daly, our generous Hostess, met us at the Guard-Gate entrance on First Avenue
with Ron Sherbet
My neighbors for four + decades
Wendy had invited just a few folks for a small gathering to view the fireworks and share some food at her apartment after. We began on the lawn.
Apparently, everyone originally invited, invited several others...
...ultimately totaling thirty something people. Needless to say, we all made it up to the roof and a few visited the apartment for the food and beverage offerings, which, by the way were simply delicious. Most had distance to travel and departed right after the show.
