DELICIOUS

Dreaming
Ah, to be on the the Irish coast, high up and looking out across the great sea on a grey day though the mist of a certain morning...seeing history through wise old eyes and leaning gently upon my blackthorn shillelagh. Sea birds are calling, circling round the red sails of a Galway hooker near the far horizon. There's a friend out there heading home with a good catch. There will be fish to fry by sundown!

Too Lazy To Be Ambitious
by Taigu Ryoken
Too lazy to be ambitious,
I let the world take care of itself.
Ten days' worth of rice in my bag;
a bundle of twigs by the fireplace.
Why chatter about delusion and enlightenment?
Listening to the night rain on my roof,
I sit comfortably, with both legs stretched out.

Yet gifts arrive from Glennis Dolce, and Teddy is as surprised as he is grateful. Me too :-->

Three Canes
"Cora Cane needs a fresh coat of paint, but the other two hard wood ones match perfectly and can be used one at a time or both at once!

A RED WEEK

(Calendar from Jenny S.)

SUNDAY
I've been waiting, under wraps, breathing, sleeping, letting go while still containing all that was, is and might be. I've been tweeking colors on photographs, leaning toward red for hearts, for love, for life---constructing this blog post for the week till Tuesday where Hallmark branded it's Valentine mark, though the historical Valentine was a Christian Martyr living under Roman rule (there are other interpretations of course), and the festival Lupercalia coincides. I've been unearthing memories, reviewing all the love my life has encountered and appreciating the eternal value of friendship...reminding myself what really matters.

Communicate
(heart forever stamps from Nayra A,)

Let Go
(Throwback to lost teeth)

Fly Free
(Avenue B and 6ths St Garden)

MONDAY
Nostalgia was dominant yet not distressing, only comforting. It's been rich this little life of mine so far. I find myself appreciating that. Adequate sleep and drift, specific medicinal teas and warm baths, certain silences and sanctuaries are my natural inclination and so I have inclined. I made potato leek soup, listened to music, read Carly Simon's "Boys in the Trees" quite entertaining memoir. I was blissfully snowed in.

Celebrate
(Wendy D. makes yarn roses kike this)

Rest in Beauty Shamelessly
(Teddy graciously posed in rose petals for me)

TUESDAY
February is transitional, the shortest month. "Its birth flower is the violet (Viola) and the common primrose (Primula vulgaris). Its birthstone is the amethyst. It symbolizes piety, humility, spiritual wisdom, and sincerity. Its zodiac signs are Aquarius until February 19th and Pisces February 20th onward."  The Roman month Februarius was named after the Latin term februum, which means purification, via the purification ritual.

SOME SUNDAYS are SEDENTARY

"Tending to spend much time seated; somewhat inactive."
LISTENING
(with Teddy)
"The Girl Next Door"
Another Ruth Rendell detective tale
(see LINK below)

We read, listen to or watch detective fictions because the crimes are usually solved, and with the best of them there are no simple all-evil versus all-good people. Characters are full fleshed human beings with histories, psychologies, and operating within specific, time based cultural contexts. They take us into landscapes where we might never have traveled otherwise, and are travelogues in this way. Their referential material may be familiar or completely new to us. Often we learn something we didn't know about, or are reminded of what we do know. Solving crimes with intelligent reasoning serves to reassure us that our vast, often violent and incomprehensible world, can be understood, that no matter how horrific the aberrations we witness, they need not overwhelm us. There's comfort in that.

Meanwhile
The rescue has bloomed
I'll go for a walk to watch Sundown over the Hudson River, and later I'll watch the next installment of "Endeavor". Shaun Evans returns for a third season of the popular series as the young Endeavour Morse, before his signature red Jaguar but with his deductive powers already running in high gear. In four new films, Endeavour must deal with the aftermath of the tragic events that left him languishing in prison, and his senior officer DI Fred Thursday (Roger Allam) with a life-threatening injury.

WHERE HAVE I BEEN?

I rested here awhile after the second cataract procedure
9/24
Then home for the month long drops regimen,
but I could see within a day
9/25
I'm reading again!  An old favorite

Ventured out to the book launch of poet friends
9/26
Saw the moon through buildings on the way home
On the night of the full lunar eclipse I was with the
Amateur Astronomers of New York up on the High line
9/27
 It was awesome
 9/29
I made a melange of raw kale, apple, carrot, and cashew
Then, the temperature dropped and the rain began.
 10/1
I packed for my planned week away on long Island.  But, in the morning I woke up blighted hard by a nasty cold
10/2
Remedies of choice + sleep and soup
Kept hoping it would let go
10/3
It rained and rained + no heat
10/4
A trip to the market for supplies during a break in the weather
Noted wild grass growing beautifully
I lifted my head from the sick bed imagining sunlight
New addition of an old remedy from Ananda days.
Mix with honey-take teaspoons every hour or so.
The rain departed and skies got blue
but I'm still ill and never got away
 Consulting turtles
Reading blogs, emails and Face book
Changed my cover shot
10/5
Ventured out for a meditation and encountered the birthday party
for one of the monks at Zen Center for Contemplative care
 (that's Koshin's name on a delicious cake)
 10/6
A night time walk around Gramarcy Park
Crickets and cicadas still singing
"Get well-Get well-Get well Michelle"
Back to bed
Perhaps tomorrow...
