I crossed the Hudson River on a train heading East from Westfield Massachusetts only a week ago and, though I have not finished uploading photographs, I think of those beloved friends daily. I think of all the friends of all those decades past as well. Today the weather in Manhattan is overcast and cool at 72 degrees. It casts a pale grey over the windows that look out from my apartment/museum of fifty years, a catalogued trail of joys and tears expressed and boxed away in stacks. Fall is in the air and welcome.
