FOOD GLORIOUS FOOD

Avocados and Half Shell
When they're ripe I'll have them with Artichoke antipasto
Another kind of food
From the brilliant Terry Pratchett who said:
"The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will
insist on coming along and trying to put things in it."
Not precisely Apple Crumbles
More like apple candy goop, but delicious with yogurt
Recipe
The cook cleans up of course
Habits?
Yesterday I ate baked chicken on a bed of arugula for breakfast at 5AM, my breakfast lemon yogurt for lunch at 2PM, and had a big serving of apple what-ever-it-is desert for supper at 10PM.

ON WORDS

“Something opens our wings. Something makes boredom and hurt disappear. Someone fills the cup in front of us: We taste only sacredness.”
-Rumi-
Perfectly good food discarded when 'neighbors' fled to destinations unknown

Some view anything deemed sacred as belonging to 'god', and resist using the word for that reason.

Others embrace the word for the same reason.
Priced at three for twenty dollars

I use the word 'sacred' to denote something or some one worthy of honor.  Consequently, to my understanding, everything and every one is sacred.  Then, what about good and evil, pain and pleasure, suffering and liberation?

More words with which to indicate an attitude toward something or some one.  Sacred's just a six letter word after all, and all words are mere signifiers, both real and illusory--ultimately inadequate to the tasks of living and dying.
Symbolic blade to sever illusions

Still, we humans struggle to find the right words to describe what's seen and felt.  That's how stories are born.  A 'Beautiful' story is not complete without the darker elements of that story, nor are the darker parts any less 'beautiful'.

Given enough longing and light, having devoured it's own substance, story emerges like a butterfly-unique and brief.

WORD MEDICINE

The Truly Great

I think continually of those who were truly great.
Who, from the womb, remembered the soul's history
Through corridors of light, where the hours are suns,
Endless and singing. Whose lovely ambition
Was that their lips, still touched with fire,
Should tell of the Spirit, clothed from head to foot in song.
And who hoarded from the Spring branches
The desires falling across their bod
ies like blossoms.

What is precious, is never to forget
The essential delight of the blood drawn from ageless springs
Breaking through rocks in worlds before our earth.
Never to deny its pleasure in the morning simple light
Nor its grave evening demand for love.
Never to allow gradually the traffic to smother
With noise and fog, the flowering of the spirit.

Near the snow, near the sun, in the highest fields,
See how these names are fĂȘted by the waving grass
And by the streamers of white cloud
And whispers of wind in the listening sky.
The names of those who in their lives fought for life,
Who wore at their hearts the fire's centre.
Born of the sun, they travelled a short while toward the sun
And left the vivid air signed with their honour.
