THE POETICS OF URBAN DOMESTICITY
It ate through two health snack bars, and left droppings. Saw him/her!
Moved absolutely everything not in jars-into jars, or into the fridge.
Spoke to super who said "Exterminator's not here til next month!"
I am tortured by the thought of 'exterminating' anything,
especially a dear little ordinary house mouse.
But, Thar's disease to reckon with,
the danger of contaminated food!
Oh, dear, oh dear-and-Oh, my, my!
Mousie, Oh, mousie go away!
This is not a place to stay-
Tum-Te-Tum-Te-Tumte-Tay!
I'll move the fridge, plug holes with steel wool and plaster, sprinkle peppermint oil (they hate the smell), and pray the dear critter goes on it's very merry mousie way through the walls to live and eat another day elsewhere.
Amy Dover is a young artist from County Durham in North East England-Her first solo show was held last July at her sister's Electrik Sheep gallery in Newcastle. Her prints, stickers and postcards can be purchased from her website.
Unfortunately, it just so happens - there will be no water
(hot or cold) from 9AM-5PM today (A sign went up yesterday afternoon).
I have filled all my water containers in preparation for the drought.
Isn't it always something in this overpopulated, over one hundred year old,
urban jungle of underground caverns, over built buildings, avarice, fear,
and constantly shifting perspectives?
And, don't we, still, just love it to death?
So far, no earthquake or tsunami.
I'm rooting for the Mouse!
