Memento Mori
"A genre of artistic work which varies widely,
but which all share the same purpose:
to remind people of their own mortality.
The phrase has a tradition in art that dates back to antiquity."

QUILT

Emerging from a locked cupboard to show itself
To take me briefly back in time
A witness once again
Remembering
Potent pasts
Mine and others
Known and unknown
Stories folded in the seams

so you are (were) a stitcher. what a wonderful quilt pattern. why is it hiding in a closet? is it not complete? i love that red and white section. so glad you posted this.
'memento mori' ---so familiar to me but i do not know from where.
No, never a stitcher. The quilt belonged to dear friends of many years - one died, and the other moved away. I was saving it for the memory. It has no back, no finished edge, and sustained some tears over the years. While I was looking for the material you will see in tomorrow's post, it emerged, and so did the poem.
sorry. i read 'Quilted by MS' and didn't think in terms of the poem but the photo.
Thank you...you pointed out an error...the poem was supposed to be called 'Quilt' not 'Quilting'...and I missed that before posting. Fixed it. What would one do without friends!
Perhaps a mending and a continuing are in order, if you should choose to stitch. I love the pinwheel centers.
Hi Nancy
Yes, perhaps, somewhere down the road apiece. The feather will be my first ever stitching project...so we shall see. It is beautiful, and holds many memories as quilts do.
