Her name comes from the Latin word 'pomum'--fruit.

Johnny Mercer wrote English lyrics
To Autumn
by William Blake
O Autumn, laden with fruit, and stained
With the blood of the grape, pass not,
but sit
Beneath my shady roof, there thou may'st rest,
And tune thy jolly voice to my fresh pipe;
And all the daughters of the year shall dance,
Sing now the lusty song of fruits and flowers.

second attempt to post a comment. I so enjoyed the harmonica version of 'Autumn Leaves'. brought back memories of my dad playing it on his harmonica which now belongs to me. my dad could not read music but played harmonica and mandolin by ear. I can read music but cannot play the harmonica. thanks for the memories.
