Film Muse Friday BREAK OUT THE POPCORN and HANKIES

I feather my nest with this while I stitch away the day

Film Muse

1952
THE HOLLY AND THE IVY
"A heartwarming tale of an English minister and his family reunited at Christmas time."
As promised "A tragic secret tears a family apart" and,

as is to be expected of all "heartwarming" tales,
in the course of film time,
all is reconciled.
More here than simple dramatic narrative, there are moments of magical realism, and a generous sprinkle of humor as each character transforms into their better angel, and the bells ring out
Peace on earth.

Directed by George More O'Ferrall
Starring Ralph Richardson, Celia Johnson
Margaret Leighton and Denholm Elliot

Love old Christmas movies, but they do often make me cry with their romantic story lines about Christmas and family values.

Season greetings and best wishes for 2012.
I will now be number 30 on your followers list! ;-)
