Feather Muse
The Lace Bird
Seeing through lace, the vista
beyond, obscured by a bird-
perhaps a dove or cockatoo.

A maker, now lost to sight,
sat quietly hour upon hour in her room
keeping busy hands from the devils work.
This frame of corset boning
came decades later, and long after
she lay beneath that stone out there
Under a favorite hemlock tree,
twisted within it's spreading roots,
hands folded, wound in prayer beads.

lovely words. the branches of the tree makes its own lace pattern.
delicate ice
something about lace in windows
something about windows
you caught the essence here
how someone past can call us,
bring us to them by what they have
left behind
