World Muse Wednesday HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF

World Muse
History repeats itself like cells divide
spreading past patterns far and wide

When will we ever learn?

Historical context in this link
In December1819 the Government decided that a revolution was afoot
and applied repressive policies without enquiring why conditions were as they were.
They passed the Six Acts in 1819.
England In 1819
By Percy Bysshe Shelley

An old, mad, blind, despised, and dying king,—
Princes, the dregs of their dull race, who flow
Through public scorn,—mud from a muddy spring,—
Rulers who neither see, nor feel, nor know,
But leech-like to their fainting country cling,
Till they drop, blind in blood, without a blow,—
A people starved and stabbed in the untilled field,—
An army, which liberticide and prey
Makes as a two-edged sword to all who wield
Golden and sanguine laws which tempt and slay;
Religion Christless, Godless—a book sealed;
A Senate,—Time's worst statute unrepealed,—
Are graves, from which a glorious Phantom may
Burst, to illumine our tempestuous day.

sort of.
but i am always thinking, we
say "history"
but
what is that?, really? a story of people. and we are the people.
we LET it repeat, somehow. and somehow is the qualifier. how do we NOT somehow? in my lifetime, i have not seen How.

I don't know how we the people really LET it repeat.....most of us do as much as we can to defeat negative duplications, but, being human.....well, you know the rest.....There is currently a series on WNYC radio on the Brian Lehrer show I will try to post soon.....a discussion of a proposition....can there ever be an end to war? It's an old debate but worth continuing......I just got on line and want to comment on your last cloth posting.......it IS wonderful.....you are wonderful......I wish we could sew together today.......but it will have to remain apart/togetherness for now.
