Two Poems by Ryokan Taigu

1.
Wild roses,
Plucked from fields
Full of croaking frogs:
Float them in your wine
And enjoy every minute!

2.
When all thoughts
Are exhausted
I slip into the woods
And gather
A pile of shepherd’s purse.

thank you for these images; the yellow flower is Chelidonium majus, commonly known as celandine (apparently, as i googled it) not lanceleaf; we have lots of these in our mainly shady garden, as well as buttercups, forget-me-nots and wood anemones; you would feel at home here too
