Thirty Second Slam
DISCLAIMER
All the photographs were taken without red-eye correction or adjusted aperture, while the action was non stop and full speed for several hours. The lighting was bright and sometimes flooded faces. No zoom either, so I did my best without photo-shop to crop, darken or lighten where necessary. Though I could not use stop action speeds, I actually love the effect of gestures and their ghosts. I am at fault for not being able to set up before hand, but it was a last minute decision to stay after my regular Monday two hour writing group sponsored by The Creative Center for Arts in Health care. I was most grateful to witness, inspired and moved by the many talented and impassioned participants. I did not take notes so I'm contacting the two performers I did connect with in order to identify as many of the people appearing in these photographs as possible and will come back to this post and update with what I learn. There were many performers I was unable to shoot and I do regret that. I will simply number the shots in the order I took them.

these images are WONDERFUL.. gestural, poetry themselves. I'd love to see them in a little flip book. It'd almost be a movie. Did you offer one of your poems?
I just commented and then 'lost' it b/c I'm trying to text with one of my sons, too. Can't tell if comment went through. Must be too distracted or tired to do this, b/c I lost comment twice over at Grace's. I'll check back in the morning, but can I just saw I LOVE these pictures, both individually and as a cinematic sequence. And, did you read?
So glad you decided to stay, listen photograph and share! xo
