"Silent Muse"
Love Dogs
by Rumi
One night a man was crying Allah! Allah!
His lips grew sweet with praising,
until a cynic said, “So!
I’ve heard you calling our, but have you ever
gotten any response?”
His lips grew sweet with praising,
until a cynic said, “So!
I’ve heard you calling our, but have you ever
gotten any response?”
The man had no answer to that.
He quit praying and fell into a confused sleep.
He dreamed he saw Khidr, the guide of souls,
in a thick, green foliage.
He quit praying and fell into a confused sleep.
He dreamed he saw Khidr, the guide of souls,
in a thick, green foliage.
“Why did you stop praising?” “Because
I’ve never heard anything back.”
I’ve never heard anything back.”
“This longing you express
is the return message.”
is the return message.”
The grief you cry out from
draws you toward union.
draws you toward union.
Your pure sadness
that wants help
is the secret cup.
that wants help
is the secret cup.
Listen to the moan of a dog for its master.
That whining is the connection.
That whining is the connection.
There are love dogs
no one knows the names of.
no one knows the names of.
Give your life
to be one of them.
to be one of them.

"The brain waves of meditators show why they're healthier.
Neuroscientists have found that meditators shift their brain activity to different areas of the cortex—brain waves in the stress-prone right frontal cortex move to the calmer left frontal cortex. In other words, they were calmer and happier than before."

Well Michelle. my favorite word would be 'story' with 'silence' as a close second!
Now I'm off to follow your links...
Just woke up after sleep at 1AM, having been to Central Park for a free outdoor viewing on big screen of Martin Scorsese's Rolling Stone documentary "Shine A Light" to take my mind off the storm, took some interesting shots and might throw out an extra post later today about it....Nice words, but look carefully at the clues again -word- is in a certain typeface and that's the key. Try again.
almost missed this post. i am longing for rain. it is to reach 108 today. did you see the PBS special on Rumi a while back with Coleman Barks? I have a Rumi quote on my blog banner. and meditation...have been meditating daily for more than 35 years. wish i could convince others of its benefits.
