Friday Feather Muse SHE NEEDS A FEATHER QUILT

Feather Muse

Ah, this is a tender and sad little tale from my childhood.  I read it in the library book that I kept so long the librarian called my mother to remind her to remind me to bring it back.  How I doted on Anderson, and the Grimm Brothers.  I can almost see the pages as I viewed them late nights when I ought to have been sleeping, shining my little flashlight under the quilt arranged as a tented cave with pillow props, my dear horse "Seeca", and his companion donkey "Graydie" (gone the way of all worn to tatters beloved things) tucked in beside me.
I read till my eyes burned.

The animation is quite good.
The book was better.

Michelle- Love hearing your tales of love with books as a child. I am a Winnie the Pooh girl from way back! Also is this a photo of you? So charming in that frame. :)

Indeed it is Nancy--Me and Nana at her Catskill Mountain cabin where we I bathed in tin tubs on the lawn in Summer - circa 1946/47.

didn't know the book 'the little match girl' as a child. i really don't remember having lots of children's books but it's probably just a memory thing. i do remember my mother reading from 'David Copperfield' before we went to bed every night. i bought the book 'the bedspread' to read and give to Skye sometime soon. i think it was Nancy who recommended it.
