on white linen by an
unknown stitcher
on a cloth rescued
from the junk heap
years ago
at a vintage shop.
The weave so fine,
I'm thinking about the weaver's fingers.
Late last night
trying to separate five strands of embroidery floss into single threads
and ending, always
with the unwanted
knot of wasted thread...
Not thinking
Only noticing.

if you pull just one thread at a time from the top, it will not tangle. even if you want to use 2 threads to stitch with, just pull out one thread at a time.
