THE TURNING



It has begun, begun in the dark
darkness that deepens till dawn

Make Fudge While The Sun Shines

2 cups granulated sugar
2/3 cup evaporated milk
12 regular marshmallows (not minis)
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1/8 teaspoon table salt
1 cup (8 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Grease or line an 8x8-inch pan with nonstick foil.
(use glass pans if you have)
Set aside.
In a 2-quart saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar, milk, marshmallows, butter, and salt.  Cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture is bubbling.  Boil and stir for 5 minutes. Remove from heat.
Stir in chocolate until completely melted. Add walnuts and vanilla.  Spread into the prepared pan and cool for 4 to 6 hours in the refrigerator before cutting.  Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator or at room temperature.
