Elie Wiesel, "The Conscience of the World", who fought for human rights everywhere has died.
Wars are still raging all over the planet with innocent people dying and wounded.
Our environment and all beings struggle on through fire, flood, drought and industrial pollution.
Beauty remains beautiful, loss and grief painful.
Kindness is essential.

Although the notion of progress can be a beguiling trap, I am wondering if the conservative howl isn't a backlash against some real changes that have taken root in the world recently. If so, Elie Wiesel was certainly a force for compassion and a fomenter of change for whom I am most grateful.
