2 performances during the Obama years in the White House stand out for me; both from the Celebration of Music from the Civil Rights Movement:

Yolanda Adams just shook the house and tore the roof of the building when she sang, Sam Cooke's "A Change is Gonna Come", her voice deep and low, rising to the rafters and the special note that she sang at the end, "change has come".

My beloved Joan Baez who had never voted for a President until she voted for Barack Obama singing "We Shall Overcome." Her voice, as it has for many years, ringing with truth and understanding, her life a dedication to civil rights and so much more.

I've attended several of her concerts throughout my life and 12 years ago in a funky little restaurant, Duarte's Tavern down in Pescadero, California, I spoke with her. She wasn't performing but having lunch with friends. I waited until I could see that she was finished with lunch then spoke to her and we had a brief but good conversation.

Thank you Michelle for providing these moments that are sorely needed and may your Dr. visit today go well.
