SATURDAY Reality Check at Union Square (the National debt) More Cures Farm Market Glimpses * * Home Garlic Scapes, Purslane, Radishes . 8PM "Doc Martin" (Just a random short clip for the taste)
Having walked too far after the two hour writing session
because the sunset led me to the west on a long detour.
I came home
tired, flipped on the computer the 'wrong' way losing all my tabs, which
just means I have to remount all the ones I usually access. I did this
once before and it is tedious but not fatal. I have to sign in to each site, then sign out of blogger, sign in to blogger and sign in to another site, repeat, repeat, repeat...there are ten...however, now that I've begun I rediscover that I actually have to log out of my browser and shut down, then reboot for each one. This may take a day or so. I don't have the maniacal determined focus I once did.
(Ahhhh!!!)
The swell
super replaced my mailbox lock and it's working!!! So, a little
not-so-hot and a chunk of yippee is what I've got.
Saturday at 5 PM this cornucopia of Organic Produce
Having been there all day and the night before
Saved or stolen by me!? I left a note and the bag on their door. It's all being saved still until I hear from the owners--after the fact, I found the address in a side pocket and called the number but no answer, so either they left it while loading to leave town earlier Friday, or it was delivered too late. I don't know. But I just can't see it wasted and can't eat it either 'cause I don't know those particular neighbors. They might even be angry. I probably should have minded my own business! Meanwhile the snail mail brought love.
My dear dear friends two bunny cards
"You are out of sight but never out of mind."
Sunset looking West from Integral Yoga Institute on West 13th Street before a lovely chanting session.
This silk shirt with embroidered animals was a $4.00 find. I left it as a thank-you for my loving hostess,
and, this Heart full-of-Parrots Pillow
$2.00
now sits on her thrift-shopped chair there, as one more "Thank You" from me to all those hospitable others who made my sojourn so rewarding.
Like this lovely instrument in playable condition. my dear friend has furnished Coral Cottage with amazing, and beautiful items from the various thrift shops within driving distance.
I purchased a 'Florida' shirt for myself,
$2.50
and, this soft wool. well constructed one too.
$3.00
Four More treasures
1. love of a series of "The Cat Who..." stories on audio cassette by Lilian Jackson, only if read by George Guidall (In fact, almost any reading by George Guidall would be a treat).
2. One beautiful seagull feather.
3. A substantial, rock streaked in minerals,
and glittering with shiny flecks of something.
4. Heart-restoring gratitude.
What I'll Long Recall
This view from my bedroom at sundown,
this most glorious sunrise or sunset ever,
this fiery sunset too, and
Clouds doing what clouds do.
I'll remember the contagious laughter we shared. while watching that Steve Martin "Pink Panther" on a big screen television, and friends making fine meals so many mornings-afternoons-evenings.
They will be recalled with all my senses at once, since all were delightfully engaged each time. Oh, and the smell of the beach, the sound of gulls, the call of grackle, crow and hawk will be the echoes in my brain that sometimes pop on spontaneously.
Comfortable silences are memorable too. There were many of those.
It's mighty fine to have such friends as these, mighty fortunate, and Teddy thought so too!
Homeward Bound
The train pulled out of Orlando two hours late.
I'd been dealing with a nasty head cold for days, and just couldn't sleep, which translated to torture for one away from home, and ill.
Sunset January 26th
became sunrise
January 27th
until, at last, I knew I was close to New York when Graffiti, and abandoned factory buildings appeared.
Once back on twenty one, three walk-up flights from the street, I took to bed, and slept for two days and nights. Then began this series.
Singular moments seen, caught with a digital lens, and enhanced.
Quotes taken at random from the 'Sunbeams' page
in December's issue of "The Sun"
1
Penn Station Pigeon
Love is like quicksilver in the hand.
Leave the fingers open and it stays.
Clutch it and it darts away.
~Dorothy Parker~ 2
'Wessiefoo' Landscape
"I will love you forever" says the poet.
I find this easy to swear too.
"I will love you at 4:15 PM next Tuesday."
Is that still as easy?
~W. H. Auden~

Child's Feet
Love and love-always read together from the same book,
but not always from the same page.
~Richard Garnet~
4
Dancing Cloud-Girl
The trouble with many married people is
that they are trying to get more out of marriage
than there is in it.
~Elbert Hubbard~
5
"Sassy"
He felt now that he was not simply close to her,
but that he did not know where he ended and she began.
~Leo Tolstoy~
6
The Giving Table
Marriage is a perilous and fearful effort, it seems to me....
It creates pain that it is the only true cure for....
It is the only comfort for it's hardships.
Though we had our troubles, we had them in a true perspective.
The universe, as we could see any night, is unimaginably large, and mostly empty, and mostly dark. We knew we needed to be together more than we needed to be apart.
