ALL MY GURUS

Guru Purnima
गुरु पूर्णिमा

A festival traditionally celebrated by
Hindus and Buddhists.
On this day, disciples offer puja (worship) or pay respect to their Guru (Spiritual Guide). It falls on the day of full moon, Purnima, in the month of Ashadh (June–July) of the Shaka Samvat.

Traditionally the festival is celebrated by Buddhists in the honor the lord Buddha who gave His first sermon on this day at Sarnath, Uttar Pradesh, India.

In essence, this day is to remember, and honor all teachers and guides along the path of your life to date.
I have had so very many, that none  can hold my allegiance exclusively because they all do.

That's been my path so far, and it has crossed many paths where I met, and spent time with other travelers who illuminated the way, brought comfort, solace, wisdom and humor to share.

Who has not been my teacher, my guide?

All creatures, all landscapes, all literature and art, the whole of human history from the first dividing cell, to the last thought, have informed me.

All the friends, yes, and even the enemies,
have shown me ways to go on going on.

All have been, and continue to be
the lights that lead me.

Here is one fellow traveler, and guide, who found his satguru
-one who will see you through to the end-
in the tumultuous decade of the seventies.
"One Track Heart"

All praise to the multiverse of interdependant relationship,
and my undying gratitude.

Beautiful thoughts. Reminds me of a poem which, in part, says pure gratitude is pure prayer. We are
never alone on this journey.

gratitude is important. i think we learn more about ourselves from our enemies than we do from our friends although both are so important along our life journey.

Thank you for this, I hope you don't mind that I'm going to link this with my full moon art post today. To honor my teachers is a timely focus for me this day. Praises and gratitude to you.

This is lovely and I think Deanna has a point, if we are willing to listen.

I wouldn't have said it had I not meant it...all circumstances teach us more and more about who we are. Every master tells us we learn from our enemies as much as we do from our friends, yes, and some say more. And we learn from adverse winds as well, just how to tack, and when to lay low, and to forge ahead. Yes, willingness is inevitable, for the journey is easier when one believes the stones in the road, and the bend of the river.
