I KEPT MY DISTANCE

Threading needles to facilitate the beginning of stitching tomorrow, but listening with attention to detail. noticing the space between shifting perspectives, the obfuscations, the drifting off topic, and that the moderator seemed to be struggling to keep time; noticing that, despite my distancing, I became extremely agitated, thoughts turning to how important the issues in question are, how they will affect my life in particular, and how they will affect others in my small, but widening circle, and farther out into the larger world with rippling events I can't even imagine.

I thought of that blue, blue eye so many were amazed by,

detached from it's body and natural environment.

O detachment, detach me!

I poured a glass of white wine,  and broke off a piece of dark chocolate,

grateful for these extravagant pleasures, real or unreal.
