"One Christmas was so much like the other
in those years around the sea town corner, now out of all sound except the voices I sometimes hear a moment before sleep, that I can never remember whether it snowed for six days and six nights when I was twelve, or whether it snowed for twelve days and twelve nights when I was six."

when I was tennish, a half century ago, my dad let me help him build a Heathkit FM receiver..after much stinky soldering and swearing he plugged it in and turned it on and fiddled with the tuner and this is the first thing we heard. Sat on the floor in the living room and listened to the whole thing. Two miracles in one evening.
this is the first time i have felt truly un attached to "Christmas".
it was a HUGE FLOOD of RELIEF
